09/1971-1972 R50/5, R60/5 & R75/5.
BMW does not now, nor have they ever offered replacement seat covers for models prior to 1985. We believe these covers, sourced in Germany, are from the same company that originally manufactured seats for BMW. The vinyl cover material has the same grain texture, seam welts, and embossed front-to-back rib pattern as the original did. Properly installed, your bike will look years younger!
The cover on your /5 is held on by specially made small fasteners that also hold on the bottom trim molding. Because of how the seats were originally manufactured — protruding threads of the bolts were snipped off on the inside to remove potentially dangerous sharp edges — the fasteners must replaced when restoring the cover or trim (or at least the bolts and nuts). The /5 (SWB) seat requires 16 of each of the following BMW parts:
• 52 53 1 231 319 ... BOLT for seat cover & trim
• 07 11 9 922 016 ... NUT for seat cover & trim
• 07 11 9 931 015 ... WASHER for seat cover & trim
