BMW Motorcycles - The Evolution of Excellence

The latest offering to capsulate the historical development of BMW motorcycles features well written prose and a very nice selection of color and black & white photographs, many not seen in other publications. The author, a renown British moto-journalist (why is it only Brits seem to be writing about BMWs these days?), divides BMW's story into five periods starting in 1917 and leading us right up to the models released in 2006. Looking at this long heritage through all aspects of engineering, design, racing, marketing, he keeps the story nicely framed in historical context and engaging page after page. There's even an interview with BMW's current head of design, David Robb, who lets us in on some of the guiding principals he's used to create that unmistakable “BMW look” to carry us into the 21st century. It's a good read. Hard bound, 174 pages.
